Branding Your Website
A glance at the address bar of your website can remind users where they are… on your website, bursting with your organization's unique character. Gaining popularity on the Web today, favicons are a technique for boosting your brand identity on every page of your website.
A favicon (think Web "favorites icon") is a small image that displays in your address bar, to the left of www.yourURL.com. The image also displays when the Web address appears in a favorites list or a shortcuts icon. In essence, a favicon builds your logo into your Web address.
Exactly how well it works depends on the version of browser software each user employs. Firefox and Mozilla display favicons fine; earlier versions of Internet Explorer (versions 5 and 6) display a favicon only if the website is already in the “favorites” list. But the newest IE, version 7, will display it regardless.
As your Web audience begins flocking to favicon-friendly browsers, now is the time to brand your website. Building your favicon requires an adaptation of your logo or brand identity and some minor configuration where your Web files reside.
Delivering the favicon brand identity to your website is a perfect example of what makes The Grossbauer Group a preferred communications resource for organizations nationwide. Design? We deliver art-smart. Technical? We speak geek. Branding? We can help you make it happen.
